Like you (I suspect) we have window cleaners. They come around every couple of weeks and do a pretty good job of making our windows see-through again.
Or at least, they highlight to me how dirty the insides are…
Which is nice.
But they do a good job. They’re friendly, they’re fast, and they don’t make a mess. And yesterday, they demonstrated to me that they know more about sales than most business owners do – so if you’re finding it frustrating to increase your sales and profits, come closer.
Mr Window Cleaner knocked on my door and asked me one simple question that more than tripled the amount of money he took from me that day.
“While I was up cleaning your windows, I noticed that your gutters are a bit full. Would you like me to clean them for you?”
Erm – yes please! Cleaning the gutters is a bogging job. It always gets left until it’s urgent and water’s running down the walls. And that’s a bad thing, because it makes the house damp.
Identify a need. Make the offer. Ask for the sale.
In my book, Business For Superheroes, I show you exactly how to do this, in a sparkling variety of different ways. Fancy a bit of that? Grab your copy here.
Vicky Fraser is a copywriter, author, and entrepreneur. She really did run away with the circus… but when she’s not swinging from a trapeze, she’s showing other copywriters and small business owners how to work with better clients, make more money, and stop missing bathtimes, first words, and dinners with angry partners. In fact, she wrote the book on it. Get your copy here.
