Well, I had some great responses to yesterday’s blog post asking what action you’d taken as a result of reading my blogs – and listening to the podcasts in some cases.
Honestly, I was surprised. Because most people don’t do anything. They sit around and wait for things to get better, but they don’t do anything. Seems like I’ve got a bunch of superstars in my world.
Here’s what Jenny said:
Back when I first signed up to your emails, I was contemplating direct mailing but wasn’t sure. It sounded like fun but would cost money and lots of moaning people said it didn’t work. After hearing you say you loved it, I decided to go ahead and incorporate it into my marketing. For the last few weeks I’ve been sending two emails a day to people who I would like to work with, and when I can find their addresses I’m sending a little package introducing myself and my VA services.
Some respond immediately and very positively, which is great. Some don’t. After listening to your podcast about following up, I made a plan and rough template for each follow up email/letter I’d send and got to sending them.
Thanks to the first follow up, a big agency near where I live run by two very inspirational women, got back to say they loved (the L word!) my mailed package and they want to meet me! I honestly wasn’t expecting them to want anything to do with me, so this was amazing!
They’re not the only ones. Okay, some people haven’t responded at all (yet), but most have. Some have passed on my details to friends, others have hinted that they might be interested. No new clients secured yet, but the right noises are being made, and this is only the beginning. Little pieces of action can (hopefully) lead to big things.
I think email marketing and direct mailings may become my favourite thing. Thank you for giving me the prod (kick) in the right direction 🙂
Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine in your new house! Jenny”
‘Nuff said, I believe.
Look: it’s simple. Take action, do stuff, and you’ll get results. And as for Jenny: brilliant work, well done. But don’t stop. Keep chasing those leads until they buy from you, die, or tell you to stop. Which actually it sounds like you are doing.
I feel like a proud hen 🙂
And Jenny’s not the only one. I’ll share some more stories tomorrow… In the meantime, though, if you want even more help with focus and action you should grab a copy of my book, Business For Superheroes. We get shizzle done, yo.

She really did run away with the circus… but when she’s not swinging from a trapeze, she’s showing other copywriters and small business owners how to work with better clients, make more money, and stop missing bathtimes, first words, and dinners with angry partners. In fact, she wrote the book on it. Get your copy here.
