Save your fimble-famble for somebody else!

On my daily Brain List – not the same as my Do List – is always Be More Interesting.

Take time to learn new things. Be more interesting than you were the day before.

Not more interesting than the next person, you understand; everyone has the capacity to be fascinating. But more interesting than I was yesterday.

And one of the ways I work on that is to read more. About all sorts of everything. Every day.

This hopeless addiction to reading led me to the wonderful phrase

fimble-famble

Isn’t it delightful? It’s a somewhat archaic expression meaning “a poor excuse”.

So next time you invite somebody over and they tell you they’re “washing their hair”, you can shoot right back with, “Save your fimble-famble for someone else. If you don’t want to come, that’s cool.

And next time you’re writing something that needs a little… something to liven it up, take a wander through this list and see if there’s anything that tickles your fish.

If you’re stuck for ideas? Don’t despair – help is at hand! Grab a copy of my book, Business For Superheroes here.

TTFN,

Vicky Fraser is a copywriter, author, and entrepreneur. She really did run away with the circus… but when she’s not swinging from a trapeze, she’s showing other copywriters and small business owners how to work with better clients, make more money, and stop missing bathtimes, first words, and dinners with angry partners. In fact, she wrote the book on it. Get your copy here.

PS I’ve a new insult to add to my list of favourites, too. “A gentleman of 4 outs: without money, without wit, without credit, and without manners.”

That’s second only to “spherical bastard: a bastard from whichever direction you look at him.”
