Direct mail is a great way to market to your customers, if done well.

Well. It’s probably simpler if you watch this video. It’s actually a short critique – a short version of the ones I do for free for my Inner Circle Members – but I wanted you to see it because there are some great marketing lessons in here about how to do direct mail. So I’m making it available to everyone 🙂

The four main takeaways?

  1. Pay attention. Who’s your customer? What do they do, think, feel, and care about?
  2. Always send a letter with a call to action. Always. Even if someone only requests a free sample or a brochure or a catalogue.
  3. Beautiful packaging matters, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
  4. Calls to action don’t have to be strident and imperative; they can be strong yet gentle. Like Thor out of The Avengers. Yum.

Anyway: as always, my advice is JFDI. Make a list, send them a letter.
