Inside every goat is an octopus pulling levers.
Goats are landing craft for octopodes. Just look at their eyes: goats and octopodes have the same eyes.
An octopus is a smart mollusc… it can reason, it can open jars, it can solve puzzles… it’s entirely possible it could control a goat from the inside.
And, of course, an octopus has eight arms. Eight long, muscular, wavy arms with which they can do many things at once.
Are you an octopus?
I thought not.
So why are you trying to do 47 things at once? It’s just about the most stressful thing you can do, and it’s just about the most common thing I see business owners doing.
They come to me and tell me they have no time to do the thing I tell them to do.
They come to me and tell me they have so many things to do, they don’t know where to start.
They come to me and tell me they’re fucking exhausted and fed up of that amphetamine-esque mind-racing that happens every time they look at their massive Do List.
I know. I get it. It’s awful.
It’s overwhelming and it leads to fear.
And we all know where fear leads, right? That’s right: fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. And hate leads to the Dark Side. I don’t want you to hate your business.
Lemme tell you something, amigo. When I stopped trying to do 47 things at once, my life and my business became infinitely more fabulous.
I don’t always manage it. I still make Joe growl with frustration on occasion when I’m doing something in the garden, then start three other jobs at once.
But mostly? Mostly I’m making good use of the F word. In the garden and out.
Focus, gutterface. Not the other thing.
The thing about focus is that it simplifies everything… but the problem is, you can’t focus when your mind is spinning between 294 things clamouring for attention in your brain.
All you can see is panic and a big messy wood full of trees.
You know there has to be an easier way. And there is. You just need someone to show you.
That’s what you’ll get from my book, Business For Superheroes: focus.
The biggest problem I help my readers with straight away is cutting through all the panicky crap and getting right down to what’s important. What their Mission is. And what will get them there.
And when you buy your copy, I’ll do the same for you. I’ll show you what you should put aside for now, because it’s a distraction.
I’ll show you the fastest way to achieve your mission.
And together we’ll stop doing all those things that are making you crazy. After all, you’re not an octopus, are you?
Vicky Fraser is a copywriter, author, and entrepreneur. She really did run away with the circus… but when she’s not swinging from a trapeze, she’s showing other copywriters and small business owners how to work with better clients, make more money, and stop missing bathtimes, first words, and dinners with angry partners. In fact, she wrote the book on it. Get your copy here.
